Topic: using simpleviewer with drupal 6

Anyone know how to use simpleviewer (or simpleviewer pro) with drupal 6.  There are plenty of solutions for using it w/ earlier versions of Drupal, but the needed modules have not (and probably will not) be upgraded to drupal 6.  I prefer using simpleviewer to other photo gallery software, but am restricted to using drupal 6.  Any ideas from experts (or expert wannabes  :? ) will be greatly appreciated

Re: using simpleviewer with drupal 6

It would be nice if there were some specific syntax examples, and step-by-step instructions as to where all files are supposed to be located.

Re: using simpleviewer with drupal 6

I'd love to find this out too.

Re: using simpleviewer with drupal 6

Trying to get this worked here as well, spend the last couple of hours with SWF Tools.

Followed the step-by-step tutorial, with no success. The error is or: "Could not find the simpleviewer file for embedding." or "No player is configured to play a series mixed media files. Check the SWF Tools file handling settings on the configuration page."

If anyone got it worked (with any tool!) please post it here.

Re: using simpleviewer with drupal 6

Hello,

I found this code and it seems to work. I installed SWFtools and updated the shared directory that will hold simpleviewer - to version 2.0. I pasted the code below into a new drupal 6 page. I used a photoshop plugin to make the XML and to format the images/thumbs. It worked really well! I used the simpleviewer 1.9 CS3 plugin for photoshop because I was having a hard time getting the height of images to work correctly. The 2.0 version always made all images the same height-width ratio. I hope this helps you!

There are 3 parts to this:

1. The directory where you have your images, pointing to the gallery.xml file.
2. The directory where you have the simpleviewer player (1.9 and 2.0 could be referenced here. Note that 1.9 is called viewer.swf).
3. The configuration for the thumbs, background color and display of the SWF gallery.
4. You'll need to enable the use of PHP code for your drupal pages to get this to work.

This was the simplest and most elegant solution I could find. Worked great!

<?php
print swf('http://yourwebsite.com/images/living_room_simple/gallery.xml',
  array(
    'methods' => array(
      'player' => 'simpleviewer',
      'action' => 'swftools_image_display_list',
        'swftools_player_path' => 'http://yourwebsite.com/sites/all/module … viewer.swf'

    ),
    'params' => array(
      'height' => 650,
      'width' => 650,
      'bgcolor' => '#9fc1e4',
      'base' => 'http://yoursite.com/images/living_room_simple/thumbs'
    ),
    )
);
?>

This code is working great in my Drupal 6 installation.  Thanks for sharing.

http://drupal.org/project/swftools

This module appears to include support for SimpleViewer.

Re: using simpleviewer with drupal 6

Are you using a plugin to embed SimpleViewer into your drupal site or are you just using SWFObject?

Re: using simpleviewer with drupal 6

Im probably missing something really obvious, but when  create a Gallery (my only option is that and not 'Image Gallery) I go to upload the images and it appears to upload them, then they don't appear at all, or does :
'Copy image files into the importer folder, and then import all the images into the gallery' mean something else. I have been using Gallery assist before I installed this module can this cause problems?

I've done all the steps you'v stated but I cant figure this module out, Im really frustrated, thanks if you can

Re: using simpleviewer with drupal 6

To embed a SimpleViewer gallery into a site built with the Drupal CMS, see here:
http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/su … tml#drupal
In order to create the actual galleries themselves, svBuilder can be found in the SimpleViewer Standard download on this page: http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/ and svBuilder-Pro can be found in the Pro download.
Please note that if using svBuilder/svBuilder-Pro to create the galleries, they will be v2 galleries, not v1.

Re: using simpleviewer with drupal 6

Hi Stephen and thanks

Forgive me if Im barking up the wrong tree but I don't have an option to "Create a gallery using svBuilder or svBuilder-Pro" as in step 1 in Drupal, and thats wrong I had a look in  the folder svBuilder folder and still was none the wiser. On the Drupal website it makes it seem like you can do all of this in Drupal, using the Flash Gallery, Gallary Asist modules and the Simpleviewer.
There seems no clear instructions on how to make this create a flash gallery on my website. Im really sorry if Im being really naive but Im still really lost.

Re: using simpleviewer with drupal 6

I am not familiar with Drupal's 'Flash Gallery' and 'Gallery Assist' modules.
However, the instructions here http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/su … tml#drupal require neither.

The first step is to create a gallery.
If you download the current version of SimpleViewer using the download button from this page: http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/ you will find in the zip file a file called svBuilder.air.
Install svBuilder.air by double-clicking it. The program requires Adobe Air which can be downloaded from here: http://get.adobe.com/air/
Once installed, run the program and you will be able to create a gallery very easily by dragging and dropping images, configuring the settings (if required) and saving the gallery.
Full instruction for svBuilder can be found here: http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/support/svbuilder/

Once you have created a gallery, you can then proceed with the instructions here: http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/su … tml#drupal
