Topic: 500 internal server error for running buildgallery.php

Hello,
I've done what it's expected (in "Automatic via Server-side Script" section), Set file permissions, tried to put "useCopyResized = true"...

try :
http://www.atelier-calligraphie.com/sim … allery.php

thx:)

Re: 500 internal server error for running buildgallery.php

Hi, this usually means this server is not setup to run buildgallery.php. Possibly PHP is not enabled on this server. Try contacting your server administrator, or use one of the other methods to generate your gallery.

Re: 500 internal server error for running buildgallery.php

I noticed that with my kodak jpg's the script crashes with a fatal error. I found the solution -after digging into the script- in the PHP online manuel. It seems that some image functions needs more memory than normally available for PHP. The solution is to first estimate the memory needed and re-allocate this memory. By the way, it couldn't be solved with the useCopyResized switch either.

Additional I needed to reduce the size of the original images as the client browsers became extremely slow when more then 50 photo's are shown. So I've reworked the function createThumb in the buildgallery script to support a 'master' directory which should keep the originals and then the script will generate the compressed photo's for the 'images' directory and the thumbnails in the 'thumbs' directory. The compressed photo's will have the maximum resolution as defined for the client flash viewer (in my case 480x480). So orignal 5M pixel photo's will be reduced to the size of the flash viewer which saves a lot of download time for the clients. In my case the jpg's of 1Mb resized to less than 100Kb.

I hope this will contribute to the use of simpleviewer.

The complete buildgallery.php script becomes:

<?

set_time_limit(0);
ini_set("display_errors" , "1");

Re: 500 internal server error for running buildgallery.php

Thx for your help, it was the images size (too big)
merci beaucoup wink

Re: 500 internal server error for running buildgallery.php

Well, the build galery works fine, but not the viewer...

try :
http://www.atelier-calligraphie.com/simpleviewer/

In local, with easy php, it works fine smile
I've already got 2 databases on my server (for my forum and another galery)

Thx smile

Re: 500 internal server error for running buildgallery.php

Zeshadok, your permissions of the images and thumbs directories looks wrong. When I check your xml file it shows a photo ronflll.jpg, however when I try to access http://www.atelier-calligraphie.com/sim … onflll.jpg it forbits. As the simpleviewer loads the photo's from the client flash application it will also need read access.

Additional you have a Thumbs.db file in your folder which I saw in you imageData.xml as well (you viewed the photo folder in windows XP with thumbnail preview). The buildgallery.php takes all files including the Thumb.db and the flash simpleviewer will then interprete this file as a photo. Just remove the .db file and rerun the buidgallery.php will do.

Good luck!
