Topic: SimpleViewer requires JavaScript and the Flash Player.

I seem to have the same problem as a lot of people here. Though I searched through all of forum, and tried what everyone has said.

I get the error message "SimpleViewer requires JavaScript and the Flash Player. Get Flash."

I uninstalled my flash on my mac, reinstalled the newest one.

I have the newest version of SimpleViewer

I made sure that one code was in my page

And as far as the file "swfobject.js" everyone said i couldnt have it in the same folder as the rest of my stuff. But does that mean i exclude it completely or just have it in a different folder or something? I tried both and i still get this error message.

Anyone have any advice?

Re: SimpleViewer requires JavaScript and the Flash Player.

Hi,

swfobject.js needs to be in the gallery folder along with the rest of the SimpleViewer files.

Please check the FAQ, Q1: http://www.airtightinteractive.com/simp … r/faq.html

Thats what I originally did, but still gave me the same message.

Re: SimpleViewer requires JavaScript and the Flash Player.

I'm looking forward to hearing your resolve as I have the same problem - posted a topic, but never got a response  sad

Do you have a URL I can look at?

Re: SimpleViewer requires JavaScript and the Flash Player.

www phanumasphotography com

However, this is currently linking to different gallery software. It's a photographer's website so he cannot afford to have a gallery which doesn't show his photographs!

I want to migrate all the galleries to simpleviewer and use the software for other sites I am working on

Thanks

Thanks a lot

Re: SimpleViewer requires JavaScript and the Flash Player.

Ok...so after some more fooling around I figured it out.

See here: 4. My images show locally, but not when I upload them to my webserver. What are possible problems?

Check your image paths and filenames exactly match the names specified in the XML file. Most servers are Case Sensitive. This means the letter cases in the filename must exactly match those in the XML document (for example ".jpg" is not the same as ".JPG").

Another possible problem is if your webserver has  'Hotlink Protection' enabled. Hotlink Protection breaks SimpleViewer. Check with your webserver administrator.

Yet another possible problem is if you are using 'Fetch' to upload your files. Older versions of Fetch break SWFs on upload. Upgrade Fetch or use a different FTP app.

So i uploaded my files using a different ftp and it worked.  Cyberduck.

Hope that helps!!!!!!!

Re: SimpleViewer requires JavaScript and the Flash Player.

Hi,

Same problem here. I've also checked everything that's been said. It works fine in different versions of IE and google chrome but it in firefox 3 it just keeps asking to install flash.

What is the URL for your site?

Hi,

The site my gallery is on www calabaybreezeflorida com/gallery html

(you will have to add the dots as it wont let me post them yet.)

Thanks,

Re: SimpleViewer requires JavaScript and the Flash Player.

Looks like you have a extra </style> tag on line 9 try getting rid of that.

Re: SimpleViewer requires JavaScript and the Flash Player.

Hi,

I've removed that </style> tag now but i still get the same problem. The error console shows this

Error: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Security error"  code: "1000" nsresult: "0x805303e8 (NS_ERROR_DOM_SECURITY_ERR)"  location: "www calabaybreezeflorida com/swfobject js Line: 8"

Re: SimpleViewer requires JavaScript and the Flash Player.

Probably not related to the error you are getting but you have some code after the </simpleviewergallery> tag in gallery.xml which shouldn't be there.

Edit: You also still have two closing </style> tags (on lines 7 & 336) but no opening <style> tags anywhere.

Re: SimpleViewer requires JavaScript and the Flash Player.

Hi,

I've removed the lines after </simpleviewergallery> left overs from my copy paste.

Also corrected the style lines on the index page. Im still having the same issue on my gallery page and firefox still gives the same error message.

Thanks for eveyones help on this!

Re: SimpleViewer requires JavaScript and the Flash Player.

I think I've tracked this one down.
In the line:

<td><a href="location.html" target="_top" onclick="MM_nbGroup&#40;'down','group1','location','',1&#41;" onmouseover="MM_nbGroup&#40;'over','location','nav/location_over.png','',1&#41;" onmouseout="MM_nbGroup&#40;'out'&#41;"><img src="nav/location.png" alt="" name="location" border="0" id="location2" onload="" /></a></td>

... change name="location" (and all corresponding references) to name="anything_else" as Firefox seems to be treating 'location' as a reserved word (as in window.location.href).

Re: SimpleViewer requires JavaScript and the Flash Player.

Thank you soooo much monkeyboy. That's sorted it out. Its also corrected the location button that didn't change on mouse over!

Never even considered that could affect it.

Again, thanks for your help.
