Topic: SimpleViewer requires JavaScript and the Flash Player

I know this has been asked before but i have just spent the day reading through the forums and found no info to get me through this problem. Everything works fine until i look at it on line and i get the message on the page saying i need JavaScript and Flash. It worked as a preview in both Firefox and Safari but not when i actually publish it. I used Filezilla to upload it. I do have the latest version of Flash and I have Java and JavaScript enabled in my preferences. If there is anyone that can help i would really appreciate it!

Thanks in advance.

Are you using 'Fetch' to upload your files? Older versions of Fetch break SWFs on upload. Upgrade Fetch or use a different FTP app.

Re: SimpleViewer requires JavaScript and the Flash Player

Thanks for the reply.
I used Filezilla first and then just for kicks tried the newest version of Fetch to see if it made any difference. The only difference it made was that it now does not show the JavaScript/Flash message.

Any thoughts?

Re: SimpleViewer requires JavaScript and the Flash Player

Hi -

If you've transferred the folders just as they are (as I did), then problem is in the code that you copy and paste into your existing page.

The code for the header originally reads as:
<script type="text/javascript" src="swfobject.js"></script>

But should be:
<script type="text/javascript" src="ext/js/swfobject.js"></script>

The viewer code originally reads as:
<script type="text/javascript">
var fo = new SWFObject("viewer.swf", "viewer", "800", "600", "8", "#181818");
fo.write("flashcontent");
</script>

But should be:
<script type="text/javascript">
var fo = new SWFObject("ext/viewer.swf", "viewer", "800", "600", "8", "#181818");
fo.write("flashcontent");
</script>

That should work - it did for me! Hope it helps. smile

Hi,

how are you creating your galleries? The top version is correct when using most methods to create your galleries. Check the file structure in the regular SimpleViewer download.

Re: SimpleViewer requires JavaScript and the Flash Player

Hello,

We have used latest version of simpleviewer and our browser has Flash Player v 10 (latest installed).

GAllery work fine in Firefox But in IE7 it always gives error of Flash Player.

Not sure why so? Any idea?

Hmmm seems to be working for me in IE. Not seeing any html errors... have you tried clearing tour cache?
