Topic: Long Captions go Off the Screen

Hello
I can only fit about 20 words in the caption before they disappear off the bottom of the screen where they cannot be viewed at all.

see here:

Is there a workaround for this?

Many thanks
Mark

Please try redownloading SimpleViewer. This issue has been fixed. That's quite a collection of Photos youve got there!

Did you repost a new version of 1.8? It looks the same as the one downloaded a week ago....

Re: Long Captions go Off the Screen

How I can I check what version I'm running?
I only downloaded about 3 days ago so I imagine I already have 1.8.
Thanks
Mark

Re: Long Captions go Off the Screen

I've checked and I'm running version 1.8 but my captions still disappear off the bottom of the page. Please see the gallery below and go to page 2 of the thumbnails and then click the little white car. The caption for that images runs off the bottom of the page

Thanks for any help

Re: Long Captions go Off the Screen

I have 1.8
Should I download 1.8 again?

Will give that a try

Re: Long Captions go Off the Screen

Did you re-download?

I did...the file date on it is 07/31/2006, which is the same as the one I had downloaded previously...

Did you re-post a different version other than 1.8?

Re: Long Captions go Off the Screen

I am using the Picasa web template solution so I don't even need to download version 1.8 do I? I just need to install the web template (which I have) and I'm good to go.

Can someone post a working example showing that long captions have been fixed?

I'm a little stuck on how to move forward now.
Any advice appreciated

thanks

Re: Long Captions go Off the Screen

OK I just made a test gallery.
The 1st image in the set has a long caption. It mentions 10 points but gets cut off after point 6.

here is the gallery:
http://www.yonner.co.uk/img/gallery/cap … index.html

So if this problem was fixed in 1.8 (which is great news of course) I'm wondering how I enjoy the benefit of the fix whilst using the Picasa solution?

thanks

Re: Long Captions go Off the Screen

*bump* Im having this problem as well.

Re: Long Captions go Off the Screen

i'm not very technical, but found that reducing the number of rows of thumbs gave me more space for captions. So in XML, change default 3 rows of thumbs to 2 or 1 and you will have significantly more space. (using free version)

Re: Long Captions go Off the Screen

I'm struggling with the same problem.Does anyone know a way touse long captions effectively?

Re: Long Captions go Off the Screen

Caption width is determined by the width of the thumbnail area. With SimpleViewer-Pro you can set the width of the captions using the fixed layout options.

Re: Long Captions go Off the Screen

Felix-
Thanks for the idea. But it's not the width but the height that is the issue. Ideally, the window would adjust dynamically to accommodate all text, but alternatively, a fixed height for the caption area would be ok, if I could set it high enough. The width is essentially set by the number of columns anyway, right?
I'd like to us the free version of course.
Can you point me to any simpleviewer implementations that have long captions?
Thanks,
Zach

Re: Long Captions go Off the Screen

The caption height expands to fit the text. So one solution is to use vAlign="top" then set your swf height to a fixed height, tall enough to accommodate your captions.
