Topic: No images will show in webserver

I read the FAQ about this problem but I'm still confused.

I use a website builder called Homestead (from homestead.com). I've uploaded .swf files before with no problem, so I know it CAN be done. The thing is, in the past the program I used just required me to upload the .swf file and then add HTML that the program provided, I never did anything else so now I'm clueless. I've got all of the files uploaded, but I know the problem lies somewhere with the image files. I uploaded them each individually and I checked the .xml file, the file names match... so I don't know why they aren't showing up?

Here's my test page, if it helps:

Re: No images will show in webserver

Hi,

I looked at your link and in the .html file it looks like there is a line of code missing you have

<div id="flashcontent">SimpleViewer requires JavaScript and the Flash Player.
<a href="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer/">Get Flash.</a></div>
<script type="text/javascript">
var fo = new SWFObject("mapa.swf", "viewer", "800", "600", "8", "#181818");
fo.write("flashcontent");
</script>

it should look like this

<div id="flashcontent">SimpleViewer requires Macromedia Flash.
<a href="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer/">Get Macromedia Flash.</a> If you have Flash installed,
<a href="index.html?detectflash=false">click to view gallery</a>.</div>
    <script type="text/javascript">
        var fo = new SWFObject("mapa.swf", "viewer", "100%", "100%", "7", "#181818");
        fo.addVariable("preloaderColor", "0xffffff");
        fo.addVariable("xmlDataPath", "gallery.xml");
        fo.write("flashcontent");
</script>

the main line that is missing is

 fo.addVariable("xmlDataPath", "gallery.xml");

Hope that helps.

Re: No images will show in webserver

Hmm... I made the changes but it seems that just makes it say:

SimpleViewer requires Macromedia Flash. Get Macromedia Flash. If you have Flash installed, click to view gallery.

It's something about the images not linking, I think.

Re: No images will show in webserver

You have no specific imagePath or thumbPath specified in your xml file so SimpleViewer is looking for the images in the root (alongside the untitled1.html and gallery.xml files).
The images do not appear to be there (try opening the address http://www.yelloweleven.com/IMG_4598.jpg in a browser).

Make sure the imagePath and thumbPath point to where the images are on the server (using either absolute paths or paths relative to untitled1.html).

If the images are in the root, then try defining imagePath="./" instead of imagePath="" (and likewise for thumbPath).

(I've had a look at another homestead site to check that hotlink protection is not the reason for the images not showing up and I don't believe that it is.)

To clarify, if no imagepath or thumbpath is specified, SimpleViewer will look in the default locations "/images" and "/thumbs".

Re: No images will show in webserver

Thanks, Felix.  I should have known that!  I'm checking the SimpleViewer Options page often enough!
As it happens, http://www.yelloweleven.com/images/IMG_4598.jpg does not exist either so it still looks like the issue is with the path to the images.
