Topic: Publishing error using flsh 8, 'StageManager' could not be loaded

Hi,

Once I publish simpleviewer.fla using flash 8, I got the following error:

**Error** Scene=Scene 1, layer=actions, frame=30:Line 3: The class or interface 'StageManager' could not be loaded.
     var sm:StageManager = StageManager.getInstance();

Total ActionScript Errors: 1      Reported Errors: 1

Please help.
Thanks,
Terrytubby

This error means Flash cannot find the .as files which contain the ActionScript source code. Make sure the 'com' folder remains in the same folder as the FLA file (check the pro download).

Hi Felix,

The 'com' folder remains in the same folder as the FLA file. Still I cannot compile properly. Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Possibly the FLA was corrupted somehow. Try re-downloading and unzipping the pro download, then try compiling the FLA.

Another thing to check is that your Flash authoring Class Path is set correctly.

Do Flash -> Preferences -> ActionScript -> ActionScript 2.0 Settings. Check there is a "." (one dot, no quotes) in the class path list. If not add one with the '+' button.

The dot tells Flash to look in the same folder as the FLA for the associated ActionScript files. The dot is there by default, and it's good to add it back if you have deleted it previously.
