Topic: Problem logging into Admin if domain is pointed to subfolder

Hi there.

I think I am making some newbie mistake in setting up svManager.

svManager works fine if my site is pointing to the root folder. But because I am running 2 sites...  I put them in seperate sub directories 'a' and 'b' and use my domain pointing manager in readyhosting to just point them to the subdirectories.

Now the galleries are ok, but I have a problem logging into the admin section. It says the page cannot be found. with a HTTP Error 404 - File or directory not found. Internet Information Services (IIS).

Do I need to move the svmanager.php or other files somewhere else? Up one directory? If anybody has an answer it would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Shankar.

I'm not sure if I understand your setup.

/
|-a
|-b

How are the galleries arranged inside a and b? Where is the svmanager folder?

Since these are really separate sites it might help to have two copies of svmanager, one for each site.

Re: Problem logging into Admin if domain is pointed to subfolder

Hi Jack,

I am only using svmanager with site 'a'.  I used the default settings for svmanager, so everything is 'a/svmanager' including my galleries (which I created using svmanager iteself - g1, g2, g3 which are my galleries...

/
|-a
   |-svmanager
                      |-(all the standard stuff: avmanger, classes, colorjack, css, data, g1, g2, g3 etc)

Hope this is clearer, and thanks for your help.

Shankar.

Could you give me the url for site 'a' so I can have a look?

Re: Problem logging into Admin if domain is pointed to subfolder

Hi Jack,

Yeah sure. Its http://www.mukkai.com/svmanager/

FYI the folder structure is:

/
|-mukkai
   |-svmanager

where the main site rests in the sub folder 'mukkai' and I have just pointed to the folder.

What I realised is that the Admin Login page appears because it goes to http://www.mukkai.com/svmanager/svmanager.php
But when I click sign in, I just noticed that it adds the subfolder 'mukkai' in the url path which is causing this problem, so effectively its trying mukkai.com/mukkai/mukkai (twice). How to I change that?

Re: Problem logging into Admin if domain is pointed to subfolder

I'm not surprised that svManager is getting a bit confused with your domain pointing because it's confusing me too! I don't know if we can make it work with your method of squeezing two web sites out of one server.

But let's try...

I'm assuming that you can still browse to the 'real' root.

What happens when you browse to http://the_real_root/mukkai/svmanager/svmanager.php

If this doesn't help then you could put a second installation of svManager in the real root and then try to import your existing galleries into the new installation. It would mean that the index page showing all the galleries would be in the wrong place but you should be able to move that (how to move it is in the manual).
