Topic: IE & FF Compatibility Issues | wmode & iframes
I'll try to make this as descriptive as possible. The beta site now works perfect in every way with IE8 with no modification of the orginial autoviewer code needed: no white background, the drop menus are over the flash, and no JS errors:
Perfect BUT I have the issue of the menus being under the flash in FF and Chrome. I can't figure out how to add the wmode content without completely rewriting the code since it seems to require <object> tags and the original autoviewer script doesn't have them. I rewrote it here and the page works perfect in FF and Chrome:
http://www.jasontbarker.com/pages/automotive_kinetic/ (note there is only one photo in the viewer at this time)
BUT I now have the issue of the iframe white background on IE with that page.
This is the viewer setup up for IE: http://www.jasontbarker.com/galleries/a … index.html
This is the same viewer but with a completely different code adding the wmode transparent content so the drop menus are visible on FF and Chrome. http://www.jasontbarker.com/galleries/a … ndex2.html
Which would be better to use? Should I use the original autoviewer code found in example 1 and figure out how to add the wmode content so the drop menus are over the iframe/flash on FF and Chrome? Or should I use the code I wrote in example 2 and figure out how to make the background transparent for IE? I would prefer example 1 since that's how simpleviewer wrote the flash but I don't have a clue how to add the wmode content to it.
The home button links to the root/old site so here's a link to the test homepage: http://www.jasontbarker.com/sitetest
