Topic: Embedding Simple Viewer in Movable Type

I am working on embedding a Simple Viewer gallery on the front page of my Movable Type photo blog.
I am running into a number of problems, so I am wondering if anyone has experience with Simple Viewer in MT Commercila 4.25, Pro Pack 1.3.

I am using the basic embed code since I couldn't get to the gallery to appear when I first tried it in Firefox.

Page is
http://robinrowland.com/rrowland_photography/

Problems
1. In Firefox, with the default address there is a space on the top of the page before Simple Viewer appears.  This doesn't appear in the page with http://robinrowland.com/rrowland_photog … page.html.
2. Simpleviewer doesn't appear in Internet Explorer
3. On the Firefox page when I can see the SimpleViewer, the title doesn't appear nor do the captions. This is likely fitting into the MT frame and is not a real problem but if there is a solution for that it would be nice.

Thanks

RR

Re: Embedding Simple Viewer in Movable Type

1. the space is "homepage-image" which appears in your homepage but not other pages
2. try to use swfobject.js

14u can you expand on your comments.   Need more details on how to fix.

Update.  I reduced the number of rows so the captions now appear at least in Firefox.
Still nothing appearing in Explorer.
In both Safari and Chrome the thumbnails appear but not the main image.

thanks

Re: Embedding Simple Viewer in Movable Type

I have now read the thread on IE and using JavaScript since it moved up on the system in the past couple of hours.
I would note further that I have 15+ years working with HTML so the embedding of the Javascript would be no problem on a standard HTML page.
However, I am fairly new to MT and I know that MT can frustrate people with  years of experience.
Copying and pasting the JavaScript into the page template doesn't work, I tried that originally and again today.

The problem I face is which MT template I embed the script in since MT generates a page from multiple templates. If you view page source at http://robinrowland.com/rrowland_photography/  it is clear the MT does generate a <head> and </head> but I am uncertain which template to put the script in. Or do I simply copy the script into a blank template file? I am hoping that someone familiar with MT can show me the way to do it

thanks

Re: Embedding Simple Viewer in Movable Type

While I prefer using SWFObject to embed flash you could also try the basic embed. Beyond that I don't know much about Movable Type I would suggest looking to see if there is an existing plugin or trying their forums.
