Topic: Problems displaying Spry Menu Submenu with Simpleviewer

Hi everyone,

I've just managed to embed simpleviewer into my website but the way it currently loads means that the spry menu submenus are only displayed behind the simpleviewer and are thus hidden. If I move the simpleviewer down they are still there, but that is not where I want the simpleviewer displayed.

As this appears to be a matter of layers, I was wondering if anyone knew how I could display the spry menu (part of the header) over the top / with priority over the content (simpleviewer).

Really appreciate any help on this.

Thanks

Re: Problems displaying Spry Menu Submenu with Simpleviewer

I couldn't get it to work that way but tried the below and that worked.Thanks

Essentially you add the "wmode" parameter on both the <object> and the <embed> tag:

A) Inside the <object tag>, add this line:

<param name="wmode" value="opaque">

B) On the <embed> tag, add this attribute:

wmode="opaque"

The typical Flash object html source would now look like this:

<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,19,0" width="525" height="340" title="MyFlash">
  <param name="movie" value="myFlashMovie.swf">
  <param name="quality" value="high">
  <param name="wmode" value="opaque">
  <embed src="myFlashMovie.swf" wmode="opaque" width="525" height="340" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></embed>
</object>

I also had a problem with the spry menu bar hiding below my flash. I was able to solve it, however my code is slightly different than yours, so I thought I would share....

If you add the fo.addParam("wmode", "opaque");  tag below the swfobject.embedSWF tag and also add  the params.wmode = "transparent"; tag above the swfobject.embedSWF tag it should work.

It's working for me on FF, EI, and Safari.
