Topic: Gallery not showing up in Firefox

Hey, my simpleviewer gallery works well in IE and Safari but doesnt show up in Firefox.
Its located at: www.ontwerpstudio-luka.nl > portfolio
My website is build in PHP and CSS, and my portfolio page is also a .php document (it doesnt mather what kind of document it is because its included so it could be .php .html of just a .txt document).
Here is the code of the content for my portfolio page:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>

<title>Untitled Document</title>

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/swfobject/2.2/swfobject.js"></script>

<script type="text/javascript">
var flashvars = {};
flashvars.galleryURL = "gallery.xml";
var params = {};
params.allowfullscreen = false;
params.allowscriptaccess = "always";
params.bgcolor = "262626";
swfobject.embedSWF("simpleviewer.swf", "flashContent", "740", "486", "9.0.124", false, flashvars, params);
</script>

</head>

<body>
<div id="flashContent">SimpleViewer requires JavaScript and the Flash Player.
<a href="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer/">Get Flash.</a></div>
<P><IMG SRC="http://www.snelgoed.nl/Luka/images/move.jpg" /></P>

</body>
</html>

Re: Gallery not showing up in Firefox

going to the portfolio http://www.snelgoed.nl/Luka/index.php?page=portfolio there are a bunch of HTML page errors that are most likely causing the issue.

Re: Gallery not showing up in Firefox

I am having a similar issue and just cant figure it out. Safari and chrome are fine and it just will not display in FF. I've set the size in pixels and move the locations around to account for relative linking and still can not understand what i am doing wrong.

Any help oh wise and helpful miker?

Here is the page in question http://alinasamasiuk.com/runway/spring2010.html

This page has had a simpleviewer on it for months with no issues.

Thanks!

Re: Gallery not showing up in Firefox

I'm guessing it's because your embed javascript is not in the document head. Check the embed instructions here: http://www.simpleviewer.net/simpleviewe … ng.html#js

Re: Gallery not showing up in Firefox

That did the trick, thanks!!

Re: Gallery not showing up in Firefox

Hi,

I have been reading this and other similar posts and following the instructions on the FAQ page as closely as possible, but I simply cannot get FF to display the Simpleviewer V2 gallery on:

http://www.xactdesigns.com/webdesignpor … ndex.shtml

Flash and Javascript are definitely working as I can get this gallery to display if put on it's own on another page, for example: http://www.xactdesigns.com/webdesignpor … dex2.shtml

And also the Flash clock at the top displays.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Gallery not showing up in Firefox

The page validates and everything looks right, maybe one of the other scripts your are using is conflicting with SWFObject? While I prefer SWFObject for embedding flash you could try one of the other supported methods.

Re: Gallery not showing up in Firefox

Thanks Miker.

I tried removing all other Javascript yesterday as I was thinking the same.

I have done this again to show you and see if this changes things your end.

So odd.

Re: Gallery not showing up in Firefox

Actually, scrub that, I have used the methods shown here: http://www.simpleviewer.net/simpleviewe … dding.html

...but ditched the invalid 'embed' tag and modified the W3C valid Object tag as follows:

<object width="100%" height="500px" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="simpleviewer.swf?galleryURL=gallery.xml">
<param name="movie" value="simpleviewer.swf?galleryURL=gallery.xml"></param>
<param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param>
<param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param>
<param name="bgcolor" value="222222"></param>
</object>

Can be seen here: http://www.xactdesigns.com/webdesignpor … ndex.shtml

Works in IE and FF and is W3C Valid.

Re: Gallery not showing up in Firefox

I have problem similar to what Xact originally described on 2010-01-26 19:12:09.

My 'gallery.html' file works great as a standalone, but when I include it in another file using php, it doesn't work in FF. Works fine in IE - both as standalone and as 'included' in a php file.

Standalone html file (works great in FF and IE):
http://www.jennymullins.com/test/gallery.html

Embedded using php (works in IE but not in FF):
http://www.jennymullins.com/test/index.php

I've looked through the support page at http://www.simpleviewer.net/simpleviewe … l#external
but I can't find what I am doing wrong.

Please help. Thanks.

I'm including 'gallery.html' file in 'index.php' using the following code:

<?php
$s=$_GET['section'];

switch ($s) {
    case "":
        include('gallery.html');
        break;
    default:
    include('gallery.html');
    break;
}
?>

Viewing the source of the page it looks like you have duplicate tags for the doctype, html, head, body, etc.

Thanks. That was the issue. Apparently I needed to trim the duplicate tags from the html file.
