Topic: Gallery Not Found?

First off, I am using MobileMe as my web host and iWeb to help design my website.  I have had a SimpleViewer gallery in the past, but I struggled to get it uploaded onto my website the last time.  Now, I am trying to update it, and I have uploaded the entire output folder onto my iDisk, and have even checked the file link directly in my web browser, and the .swf works there.  However, when I actually use the code I previously used to embed the flash file in iWeb, I get the prompt that "SimpleViewer" is loading, followed by "Gallery Not Found"  What can I do to make my gallery appear in iWeb and thus be posted to my website?

Re: Gallery Not Found?

36. When I view my gallery I see the message 'Gallery Not Found'. How do I fix this?

'Gallery Not Found' means the SimpleViewer SWF cannot find the 'gallery.xml' file that describes the gallery. Make sure the gallery.xml file is in the same folder as the SimpleViewer SWF and the HTML document that contains the SWF.

Okay, I checked on that and all three are in the uploaded folder together as they were output.  Like I said, the .swf file works if I type the url into the actual web browser, (i.e. web.mac.com/username/folder/flashfile.swf) but when I try placing it iWeb as an HTML widget using this code:

<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000" id="obj1" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0" border="0" width="650" height="450"><param name="movie" value="http://web.mac.com/yourdotmacname/flash/myflashfile.swf"><param name="quality" value="High"><embed src="http://web.mac.com/yourdotmacname/flash/myflashfile.swf" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" name="obj1" width="650" height="450"></object>

it begins loading as if it is going to work, and then prompts me "Gallery Not Found".  I'm not sure what the problem could be.

Re: Gallery Not Found?

Try using galleryURL to point to your XML. What is the url of your site?

Re: Gallery Not Found?

Okay I shall give that a try.

Here is my site's page with the gallery that doesn't work:
http://www.danielbristoll.com/Danny_Bri … raphy.html

And here is the direct .swf link:
http://web.mac.com/dannybristoll/flash/ … amples.swf

Thank you for your help!

Re: Gallery Not Found?

So thus far, everything I have tried hasn't worked.

I tried going in and using the HTML coding provided here:
http://www.simpleviewer.net/simpleviewe … dding.html

I went through and directed every piece of the coding to it's proper url on my MobileMe account, as follows:

<object width="1100" height="700"><param name="movie" value="http://web.mac.com/dannybristoll/flash/photosamples/viewer.swf?galleryURL=web.mac.com/dannybristoll/flash/photosamples/gallery.xml"></param>
<param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param>
<param name="bgcolor" value="666666"></param>
<embed src="http://web.mac.com/dannybristoll/flash/photosamples/viewer.swf?galleryURL=web.mac.com/dannybristoll/flash/photosamples/gallery.xml"
type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="1100" height="700"
bgcolor="666666"></embed></object>

Yet I cannot get the simpleviewer gallery to appear on my website:
http://www.danielbristoll.com/Danny_Bri … raphy.html

I have even resorted to linking people on my page to the direct .swf file, which does work, despite the gallery not being found when coded in an HTML format:
http://web.mac.com/dannybristoll/flash/ … viewer.swf

Please let me know what I need to do in order to get this to appear within the HTML coding of my page.  I have had it work in the past with nearly the exact same format, however, it doesn't seem to be working at all for me since I've updated my gallery.

Thank you again for your help.

Danny

Re: Gallery Not Found?

Oops sorry you are using version 1.9 so it should be xmlDataPath not galleryURL.

<object width="1100" height="700"><param name="movie" value="http://web.mac.com/dannybristoll/flash/photosamples/viewer.swf?xmlDataPath=web.mac.com/dannybristoll/flash/photosamples/gallery.xml"></param>
<param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param>
<param name="bgcolor" value="666666"></param>
<embed src="http://web.mac.com/dannybristoll/flash/photosamples/viewer.swf?xmlDataPath=web.mac.com/dannybristoll/flash/photosamples/gallery.xml"
type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="1100" height="700"
bgcolor="666666"></embed></object>

This is most likely your next issue:
FAQ: When loading images from a different domain, the images don't load or I see a 'Security Sandbox Violation' error. How do I fix this?

The Flash player does not allow you to load images between different web domains (e.g. www.site1.com and www.site2.com) or different sub-domains (e.g. subdomain.site1.com and www.site1.com). This can be an issue when the SimpleViewer SWF file is on one domain and the images are on a different domain.

The simplest solution is to ensure the SWF file and images are all on the same domain and sub-domain. To allow loading images from a different domain, you need to create a crossdomain.xml file on the web server that is hosting the images. To create a crossdomain.xml file, create a new document in any text editor. Paste the following into the document:

<?xml version="1.0"?><!DOCTYPE cross-domain-policySYSTEM "http://www.macromedia.com/xml/dtds/cros … policy.dtd">
<cross-domain-policy>
<allow-access-from domain="www.simpleviewer.net" />
</cross-domain-policy>

Replace www.simpleviewer.net with the domain name that is hosting the SWF file. Save the document as crossdomain.xml. Use FTP to upload the file to the root of the server that is hosting the images. Now Flash will load the images from the specified domain.

Try adding a crossdomain.xml with <allow-access-from domain="web.mac.com" />

Re: Gallery Not Found?

Tried making all the changes and it's still reading that the gallery cannot be found.  Sorry this is so frustrating.  Is there anything else it could be?

Re: Gallery Not Found?

I have never used mobleme/.mac is there a setting you have to turn on to allow the files to be pulled by your site?

Re: Gallery Not Found?

Has this issue been resolved yet?

I have tried the edits suggested here by Felix to fix the bug in the multiple_galleries.fla:

http://www.simpleviewer.net/forum/viewt … 58&p=2

but still have the Gallery not found showing up with whatever first gallery you try to load, after that all galleries are found fine, but nothing seems to get that first click to load a gallery.

Any help much appreciated.

I have also been enduring this issue for some time - I'm using multiple galleries and the first attempt to load a gallery fails, even though it works fine if I click again a second later to load the same gallery.

If anyone has any information that might be helpful I'd really appreciate it.

Re: Gallery Not Found?

darshi/coldsky are you using mobileme/.mac or just having a gallery not found issue? If you post the URL of the gallery having the issue I'll take a look.

Re: Gallery Not Found?

No connection to mobileme/.mac - apologies if we've taken this thread a little off topic. Thanks for the quick reply though, my gallery is at  if you'd like to take a look.

Re: Gallery Not Found?

Yes same with me, nothing to do with MobileMe. The site uses several galleries and in general whatever one you click on first returns a gallery not found.

Thanks for your time miker

Re: Gallery Not Found?

You are both using SimpleViewer version 1.x, all of the galleries work but intermittently and have tried the solution using mcLoader._lockroot = true;?  Are the XML and image files are on the same server and the rest of the site?

Re: Gallery Not Found?

I'm ashamed to say that despite quoting a link to that thread in my reply I hadn't read through it fully. I've now updated my gallery using mcLoader._lockroot = true; and so far I haven't hadn't any more failed loadings.

Thanks for drawing my attention to that post, I'm very grateful for your time since I'm really glad to have this solved at last.

Re: Gallery Not Found?

I have used your advised and lucky that it turns out great.thanks buddy..

Re: Gallery Not Found?

Hi,

I am quite new to Dreamweaver and i would really like to have a simple viewer in my hompage. However i cant make it work somehow. This is what i did step by step:

1. I have no problem creating a gallering using Photoshop CS4. All the files (gallery.xml, images, index.html, readme.html, simpleviewer.swf and thumbs) are located in a map called "simpleviewer" in my desctop.

2. embedding SimpleViewer into a HTML Page using dreamweaver:

i open the htm file where i want to place the viewer and i described, i insert the simpleviewer.swf located in the simpleviewer map.

Now i want to add the new parameters and it is here i get trouble.

"Enter flashVars for the name and baseURL=svgallery/ for the value, replacing svgallery/ with the path to the gallery folder relative to the current document."

I dont really understand what i should replace svgallery with, can someone please help me

here is the link where i want to place the simpleviewer: http://www.lava2010.se/Kontaktaoss.htm

when i press play it says "gallery XML Not Found" so it doesnt even work locally in dreamweaver however when i double click on index.html generated from photoshop it works fine

Thanks!

Hi miker thanks for your reply I have tried that addition but am still having the issue.

My 1st frame code is

//Example of loading multiple SimpleViewer swfs into another flash movie.

//init stage

Stage.align = "TL";

Stage.scaleMode = "noScale";

//set width and height of SimpleViewer swf

_global.SVStageWidth = 610;

_global.SVStageHeight = 450;

var galleryId:Number;

var mLoader_mcl = new MovieClipLoader();
mcLoader._lockroot = true;

mLoader_mcl.addListener(this);

//Set button actions

mcHide.onRelease = function(){

    mcLoader._visible = !mcLoader._visible;

}

function loadGallery(galId){

    galleryId = galId

    mLoader_mcl.loadClip("viewer.swf?xmlDataPath=" + "gallery"+galleryId + ".xml",mcLoader);

}

function onLoadInit(){

    //set gallery xml name

    _root.xmlDataPath = "gallery"+galleryId + ".xml";

    //set gallery specific options

    if (galleryId == 1){
        com.airtightinteractive.apps.viewers.simpleViewer.Options.imageFrameColor = 0x00ffff;
    }else{
        com.airtightinteractive.apps.viewers.simpleViewer.Options.imageFrameColor = 0xff00ff;
    }
}

//load first gallery
loadGallery(1);
