Topic: Gallery Not Displaying in FF

Hi,

I'm using the latest version of SimpleViewer Pro and have checked on Windows and Mac and am simply not getting the gallery to display in Firefox - works great in Safari & Chrome, though.

Here's the site:
http://www.bradispiller.com/galleries/amanda/index.html

I've read through the forums for similar problems and have tried any remedies I could find. The HTML is validated and the CSS errors are webkit related.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
Andrew

Re: Gallery Not Displaying in FF

I too am having the same problem. Works fine in IE7 and IE8, but in Firefox 3.0.12, I get the message "SimpleViewer requires JavaScript and the Flash Player. Get Flash." I've tried multiple doc types but nothing is working. Any help would be greatly appreciated. http://www.poolsbyartesian.com/photogalleryTEST.html

Sorry to bump this, but I'm quite anxious to get the problem resolved. Any help from Airtight?

Re: Gallery Not Displaying in FF

Try adding:

body, html {height: 100%; width: 100%;}

... to your CSS.

Re: Gallery Not Displaying in FF

Yay! Thanks sooo much - that seems to have fixed it!

andrewjaustin -  I'm still seeing the problem on your link too...

Re: Gallery Not Displaying in FF

Oh no! Weird - what version of FF are you running?

I've checked it on version 3.0.11 and 3.5.7 on Mac and version 3.6 on Windows - seems to be working good there.

Re: Gallery Not Displaying in FF

I think I've run into a similar problem with Firefox, I'm thinking it must have to do with the latest upgrade (3.6) since it worked fine recently and I haven't changed anything in the html.  It also works fine on IE and Chrome.  I added the line suggested earlier in this thread, I think I already had that covered since it didn't help, but I'm not that great with html so its probably just another little mistake...any other ideas?

Re: Gallery Not Displaying in FF

@Towdini

frameset is not valid for DOCTYPE strict.

If you want to validate a page containing frames, be sure the doctype is set to "Frameset DTD". Read more about doctypes.

http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_frameset.asp

You need to add a Doctype to http://www.prism.gatech.edu/~tlevin3/travel/index.html

You are setting the HTML height twice, this shouldn't cause a problem because of the cascading nature of CSS, but it can't hurt to clean it up.

body, html  {
height : 100%;
width : 100%;
}
html {
height : 100%;
overflow : hidden;
}

Re: Gallery Not Displaying in FF

Thanks for the tip, I changed the doctype to frameset, but it didn't fix anything.  I was looking through Andrew's source as well since that site works fine for me, and I noticed he has the transitional doctype I was using, so its probably something else?  I'm thinking the scrunched up effect has to do with how I'm declaring the height or something, but I rearranged that like you mentioned as well with no luck.  Again, I don't really know what I'm doing all that well, so its possible I misinterpreted something or did it wrong.  Any suggestions?

Re: Gallery Not Displaying in FF

I was using Firefox 3.0.15 on a PC and neither of our sites worked. I upgraded to Firefox 3.6 and they STILL don't work! Ugh.

Yours looks fine for me on FF 3.6

I found my mistake, just added 100% height under flash content...stupid little one line thing that apparently matters now for whatever reason.  Thanks for the help guys.

Re: Gallery Not Displaying in FF

same here.
had it working in FF when .swf was top level

but I need several gallery pages- so now the gallery folders (index, images, thumbs, scripts, swf) are all two levels in.

anyway- works in Safari. no go in FF.
set css 100% width and height for body

anybody?

(btw...wouldn't it be made easier if svBuilder recognized other names beside "gallery" for .xml files? That would eliminate changing gallery names, and it would allow galleryspecific.xml names... must be something I don't know getting in the way of a user specifying the name of the gallery for svBuilder to find and recognize it)
