Topic: Different Behaviour in FF and IE

Hi,
I embedded simple viewer V2.0.1 in my homepage lately (www.gvtb.ch -> Galerie). My problems:

- Firefox 3.5.7 only shows white X instead of the pictures / thumbs
- IE8 shows the pictures fine

BUT:

- Firefox can open the selected picture in a new window (although it previousely appeared as white X)
- IE can't open the selected picture in a new window (it comes up with an error message: 403 Forbidden)

Does anybody have the same problems? What am I doing wrong?

Re: Different Behaviour in FF and IE

Try removing imagePath="images/" thumbPath="thumbs/" from the gallery.xml

Re: Different Behaviour in FF and IE

Dear Miker,

Thanks for the reply. My first thought was "hey that's it!". But unfortunately it even got worse. Without the path elements within the XML file even IE doesn't work anymore (white crosses). Still the same situation for FF.

Any other suggestions are very welcome. Regards,

Re: Different Behaviour in FF and IE

Your gallery.html is at www.gvtb.ch/content/gallery/2009/arbon/gallery.html

Your gallery.xml is at www.gvtb.ch/content/gallery/2009/arbon/gallery.xml

According to your XML your image should be at www.gvtb.ch/content/gallery/2009/arbon/images/ but they don't seem to be there.

Eample: http://www.gvtb.ch/content/gallery/2009 … bon_02.jpg

Do you have some sort of image stealing protection on? If not it could be they did not upload correctly or  that they are in the wrong location or the file names do not match the XML, such as arbon_02.jpg vs arbon_02.JPG.

Somethings is funky with your web server if I go to your image directory, www.gvtb.ch/content/gallery/2009/arbon/images/, nothing is listed, but if I refersh all the images are listed.

imagePath="images/" thumbPath="thumbs/"  is a SimpleViewer 1.x option and should not be used with SimpleViewer 2, so you should remove it and then we can get it working correctly.

Re: Different Behaviour in FF and IE

Dear Miker,

First of all thank you very much for your valuable help. Indeed there is obviousely something kind of "funky" with the server  smile  - I can only see the picture files when entering the images folder from the parent directory.

However, I first must check with my provider if there are any access restrictions. I found a file called .htaccess in the root which could be responsible for this. Unfortunately I am not familiar with the settings. Content:

RewriteEngine on

RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://gvtb.ch/.*$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://gvtb.ch$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://javalink.ch/.*$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://javalink.ch$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://www.javalink.ch/.*$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://www.javalink.ch$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://www.gvtb.ch/.*$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://www.gvtb.ch$ [NC]
RewriteRule .*\.(jpg|jpeg|gif|png|bmp)$ - [F,NC]

Your comment regarding the path elements in gallery.xml is confusing me a bit. I embedded SimpleViewer 2.0.1 according to the web/examples folder in your download. The files there contain the path elements, too...

Best Regards,

Re: Different Behaviour in FF and IE

the lines in the .htaccess are blocking image stealing, but they seem like they are ok. Not sure what to tell you other then the talk to your hosting company.
