One of the new features (possibly) going in to SimpleViewer-Pro 2.0 is Google Analytics support. G.A. support allows SimpleViewer-Pro users to track how many people have viewed their galleries and images. GA support requires a free GA account.
The problem is that this adds 40 kb to the SimpleViewer SWF which takes it from 76 kb to 116 kb. Now in the world of 3 Mb JPGs this is not a huge deal, however I like to keep SimpleViewer as small as possible to handle low bandwidth situations. Also, most people will be tracking gallery visits via their existing website tracking method.
So the questions is – is it worth adding 40 kb to the SWF to support Google Analytics? Let us know via this handy poll. Thanks!
[UPDATE]
The poll is very close so it looks like per-image tracking is a feature that some people find useful. I’ve decided that the best way to handle this is by using SimpleViewer-Pro v2′s new JavaScript API. The JS API calls a JS function when a new image is selected. This allows people to trigger any kind of tracking event when an image is viewed. This gives more flexibility on the type of tracking used, as well as allowing for other actions on an image view (for example reloading a banner ad).
Should Google Analytics Support go into SimpleViewer-Pro 2.0 at the cost of 40k?

Would google analytics support enable tracking on a per image basis?
yes.
I’d vote definitely, or at a minimum, have it as an optional module. I’d love to be able to offer a decent gallery without sacrificing the ability to track which images people are most interested in.
No, never
May be separate it? 2 version of the program is good.
definitely include, clients love to be able to track content.
Definately want this feature included. Could you please let me know how to do this right now manually? I am not very tech savvy but need to track this info. Will this also help in the searchability in the images as well? If not what can i do to help that out as well? Thanks. much
