svBuilder User Guide

svBuilder is a cross-platform desktop application that allows easy WYSIWIG SimpleViewer-Pro gallery customization. svBuilder reads and writes to the gallery.xml file in the currently selected gallery folder.

Installation

  1. If you don't have it already, download and install Adobe AIR.
  2. Double-Click the svBuilder.air file and follow the prompts to install. (On Windows you may need to right-click and select 'Run as Administrator...').

User Interface Guide

  1. Refresh Button. Click this to refresh the Live Preview.
  2. Preset Menu. Select from a choice of gallery presets. Create new presets with File menu -> 'Save As Preset...'.
  3. Option Category Panels. Click a panel to open up the options for an option category. All options are described here.
  4. Config Option Label. Labels in bold mean that the option has been set to a none-default value.
  5. Config Option Text Field. To update the value in the live preview, press the 'Enter' key or select another text field.
  6. Clear Option Button. Return an option to it's default value by clicking the 'X' clear button.
  7. Live Gallery Preview - Displays the current gallery options.

Quick Start

Ready to customize your first gallery? Here's how:

  1. Create a Gallery folder - Use any of these methods to generate a new Pro gallery folder, or make a copy of the 'web' folder in the Pro download. This will be your gallery folder.
  2. Modify Options - Run svBuilder and select the gallery folder. Now select a preset or modify options using the options panel. Changes will be displayed in the live preview window.
  3. Save Options - Once you are happy with your gallery, select 'Save' from the main menu to save your gallery xml.
  4. Get Embed Code - Use the 'Get Embed Code' button in the 'Embed Options' tab to automatically generate embed code for the embed size and background color specified. Paste this code into the gallery folder's HTML document (usually index.html).
  5. Preview Gallery - Open the gallery folder in a browser to view your gallery as it will appear on the web. You can continue modifying options, saving and previewing as required.

File Menu Options

Use the application File Menu to do the following:

  • Open Gallery Folder... - Select a SimpleViewer-Pro v2 gallery folder to get started.
  • Save - Saves the current config options into the gallery.xml file in the current gallery folder.
  • Save As... - Save the current gallery.xml file to a different location.
  • Save As Preset... - Save the current options as a preset file. New presets will show in the 'Select Preset' menu.
  • Preview... - View gallery in a web browser.
  • Revert To Defaults - Removes all the current options and reverts to default gallery options.

svBuilder Limitations

There are some limitations when previewing your gallery in svBuilder. To avoid these, preview your gallery in a web browser.

  • svBuilder assumes the gallery xml file is in the gallery folder and called gallery.xml. If you are using the galleryURL option to place the XML somewhere else you will need to temporarily switch it back to use svBuilder.
  • Gallery caption hyperlinks do not work in svBuilder.
  • Gallery keyboard controls are disabled in svBuilder.
  • Gallery Fullscreen mode does not work in svBuilder.
  • It is possible for the live preview to get out of sync with the specified config options. If this happens, click the 'Refresh' button to reload your options.
