Just updated Java, on a Mac running 10.9.1 in Safari and Firefox Java is now blocking the ability to upload to svManager even after accepting risk to run, and putting in "unsafe mode" in preferences. An error message comes up saying, "This application will be blocked in future Java security update because the JAR file manifest does not contain the Permissions attribute. Please contact the Publisher for more information."

I solved this by accident. On the Add Image page, click on the error message "Inactive plugin" that appears where the upload window is supposed to be. This launched a permission request, which I granted, then click "run" in the next window that pops up.

Never mind. Solved. Jeesh, that was frustrating. Lion HIDES the user's Library now which makes all the Presets GONE in svBuilder-Pro.
Here's an article that explains how to unhide the Library: … ibrary-go/

svBuilder-Pro used to save presets in the home folder under library/preferences/.... I am now running Lion, on a Mac, and the Home folder doesn't seem to have a Library. So when I choose to "load a preset" I can't find them...Where did my presets go?

The testing page now has a Youtube video (right below the SV Gallery) in an iFrame. Below the Youtube video I added a static webpage in an iFrame. This was to test whether or not the iPhone will show content from another domain in an iFrame. The Youtube video and the static webpage which are in iFrames both show up on the iPhone, while the gallery is still not visible. So, would you say this is a bug with the SV coding as opposed to the iPhone's ability to show content from a different domain in an iFrame?

Ok, that code works to get the gallery to appear on the computer browser, but now both the iPad and iPhone say "Gallery XML Not Found"
Testing page:
but it works on the originating domain on computer browser, iPad, and iPhone.  Are we a step closer in that we are getting, "Gallery XML Not Found." ? Or is this totally an iPhone shortcoming whether iFrame or embed is used to place a gallery from another domain on a page?

I can't get the embed method to work now, not on the main domain, or the mapped domain. And I can't remember if I used the embed code from sv-Builder Pro, or the code you supplied in this thread (which was different that what sv-Builder Pro created.)

Here's what is output, can you show me how you would edit this?

<script type="text/javascript" src="svcore/js/simpleviewer.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
simpleviewer.ready(function () {
simpleviewer.load("sv-container", "100%", "100%", "transparent", true);
<div id="sv-container"></div>

I ran into another roadblock.

Using an iFrame to display the gallery works on the main site and displays on the iPhone
but a subfolder client site that is domain mapped won't display the iFrame gallery on the iPhone.

Thanks! Both methods, embed, and iFrame now show up on the iPhone. And since the gallery will be on the client's domain, I also created a crossdomain file as indicated in the FAQ you referenced.

I am testing a gallery embed on a WP page and it is working viewing from a desktop computer, but when trying to view on an iPhone I am getting "Gallery XML Not Found."

Any idea why?

To add to my puzzle, using the iFrame method instead of the embed code DOES cause the gallery to show up on an iPad but still nothing on an iPhone.

svManager version 1.6.7, build 100520 (I have put in a request for the most up to date upgrade)

Great. Thanks.

PERFECT! Thank you.

I love how you have created the custom CSS to hide certain aspects of the svManager. I would also like to hide the ability for a user to "Create a New Gallery," because once it's set up, I only want them to be able to upload new photos, delete, add or change photo captions, and re-arrange the photo order. I don't want them messing with new gallery creation. Is that possible?

Chiming in that I too would love a non-Flash, user maintained photo gallery that works on mobile/iPhone/iPad like devices.

Hi Jack, I was successful in embedding a gallery in a web page using your instructions from Awesome. However when going back in to svManager and doing some editing, clicking View to check my work resulted in a 404 error. I'm guessing this is because Step 3 says to rename the index.php file residing in the gallery folder to index.bak, and svManager is looking there when you click View?

I experimented by changing that file name back to index.php and was able to see the gallery when clicking on View from within svManager. And the changes appeared correctly on the web page on the copied index.php in the root of the website.  :)

I'm just puzzled how that is... and if it is okay that there is a index.php in the root of the website, as well as in the gallery from which the embedded SimpleViewer originates?

This issue is resolved. Thanks, Jack.

RackspaceCloud (my server company) said it was an issue with the way they were handling sessions and that they would have it resolved system wide within the hour.

As a workaround for an immediate fix, and as a alternative, tech support created a sessions folder within the domain, and in an htaccess file wrote a line of code (php_value session.save_path) that pointed to that sessions folder. He said I can keep an eye on that folder and clear it out over time as needed.

This fixed the problem, and no more kickbacks to the login page.

Jack, do you think the way my hosting company structures their websites could be messing things up?

The content files of my websites do not reside in the root of the folder with the domain name. The setup they use looks something like this:
                        index.html (website content files)

Not getting any error messages at all.

Changed to debug mode. No change at all in the erratic behavior.

Here is a short screencast of the behavior:

Just getting started using svManager and svPro. After uploading svManager and changing login name and password, tried creating gallery, and get kicked back to login page. After logging in again, an empty gallery is there, but clicking on anything like "edit" results in getting kicked back to the login page.

Ran the server test and passed.

Checked all permissions.

Any ideas why?
