Topic: FTP Error - SWF file won't upload [SOLVED]

I noticed a typo in a gallery created in SimpleViewer 1.9 on my site.
I corrected the gallery.xml file and everything worked correctly when viewed locally.

I went to upload the files using Dreamweaver CC, and got this message -

viewer.swf - Transferring
viewer.swf - error occurred - An FTP error occurred - cannot put viewer.swf.  Internal data error: Transferred file size does not match the expected file size.

File activity incomplete. 1 file(s) or folder(s) were not completed.

File Transfer failed due to following reasons:
- Internal data error: Transferred file size does not match the expected file size.

Files with errors: 1
viewer.swf

I deleted the live folder and pushed all the files again, with the same result.

Just to test, I pushed a different swf  in a different (unedited) folder and got the same error.

Any ideas?

Re: FTP Error - SWF file won't upload [SOLVED]

It sounds like the upload process might be using the wrong transfer mode to upload the SWF file to your server.
The 'viewer.swf' file should be uploaded as 'Binary' rather than 'ASCII'.
If you have the option within Dreamweaver, upload the 'viewer.swf' file as 'Binary'.

I would recommend using a dedicated FTP program (such as Filezilla) to upload your gallery files rather than the built-in FTP functionality within Dreamweaver.
You will have much more control over the upload process.
You will also have control over the transfer mode. 'Auto' should be fine but you can explicitly select 'Binary' if necessary.

Re: FTP Error - SWF file won't upload [SOLVED]

Thank you, Steven.

I called my hosting company, they looked into it, and the problem went away.
Not sure what they did, but it works.

Will get Filezilla and give it a try.
