Topic: Galleries go blank when updated

Hi, I've been using SimpleViewer in my website for almost a year now & it's been great.  However, I've recently uploaded new images and text to my SV galleries and they just turn completely blank!  I haven't changed anything else - all I've done is add file info to the gallery.xml as usual.  Examples of my new blank galleries are … emusic.htm and … stills.htm  The other galleries I haven't updated still work fine but now I am worried that if I change anything to their gallery. xml they will go blank too.  Examples of working galleries are … lished.htm and … entary.htm  - SV has been working well with Chrome & IE up to now though I have been noticing recently that it takes a while - sometimes a day or so - for galleries to update themselves after I add or delete an image (another issue perhaps).  I've been looking everywhere for a solution and I have also deleted my browser caches.  Is it something obvious I am missing? - if so, my apologies, but I need to know before I put my head through the monitor!

Re: Galleries go blank when updated

If you go to the gallery.xml in firefox you will see the following error:

XML Parsing Error: not well-formed
Location: … allery.xml
Line Number 2, Column 253:<simpleviewergallery maxImageWidth="580" maxImageHeight="480" textColor="0x00FF40" frameColor="0xFFFFFF" frameWidth="10" stagePadding="50" navPadding="40" thumbnailColumns="3" thumbnailRows="5" navPosition="left" vAlign="center" hAlign="center" title="<font face="Helvetica" size="20">

Two possible issues you can't add plain HTML elements here and the use if double quotes

What is there:

title="<font face="Helvetica" size="20">Your title</font>"

should be:

title=""&lt;font face='Helvetica' size='20' &gt; Your title &lt;/font &gt;"

Re: Galleries go blank when updated

Many thanks for your quick & helpful reply!  I changed the XTML code as suggested - title="&lt;font face='Helvetica' size='20' &gt; Your title &lt;/font &gt;" - and voila - it worked!  Rather bizarrely though, every time I save the file to my server it reverts back to the HTML code so I have to go through this process whenever I add a new image/text to the gallery which is quite frustrating to say the least.  This has only started happening recently, & for no obvious reason, so the next step is to ask my domain host (Servage) what could be causing this.
