Re: Embedding Simpleviewer

That works - thanks again!

Re: Embedding Simpleviewer

I've tried copying the viewer from version 1.9 pro into the picasa template assets folder, but it doesn't seem to work by copying and pasting. Could you please suggest what I'm doing wrong? Also, what are the advantages of version 2 and is it possible for me to upgrade to that?

Re: Embedding Simpleviewer

I would like my thumbnails in 2 columns and 5 rows as shown here http://libraimages.co.uk/pictures.htm but can't see why the top is shaved off. Could somebody please explain what I need to do and also how can I remove the simpleviewer logo?

Re: Embedding Simpleviewer

The <div> your viewer is in is too small.  SimpleViewer dynamically resizes the main image but thumbnails remain at 65x65 (for v1.9 Standard).  If the <div> is too small to accommodate the thumbnails in the matrix you have specified, they will be truncated as you have discovered. Either increase the size of the <div> or use a 2x4 matrix of thumbnails.
Purchase the pro version to remove the SimpleViewer logo at the bottom right.

Re: Embedding Simpleviewer

I do have the pro version. I copied the viewer in the download and pasted it into the assets folder of picasa, so can't understand this. Could you please suggest something?

Re: Embedding Simpleviewer

When I click on the viewer in the pro download it shows up OK, but if I do the same on the viewer in the picasa assets folder I get "gallery not found" even though I've pasted it into picasa!?!

Re: Embedding Simpleviewer

I've never used Picasa so can't help you there but the viewer at http://libraimages.co.uk/libra/viewer.swf is the v1.9 Standard version.
Upload the Pro version to the http://libraimages.co.uk/libra/ folder on your server.

Re: Embedding Simpleviewer

I uploaded the viewer and the swf from my pro folder to the libra folder on the website, but it doesn't change.

Re: Embedding Simpleviewer

I am so confused with all these versions of simpleviewer. I bought the 1.9 pro version over a year ago and still haven't got it working. I'm not thick and have followed the procedure but, for some unknown reason, it refuses to replace the old viewer. There is obviously a problem somewhere and all I would like is some advice on this.

Re: Embedding Simpleviewer

How do I increase the size of the <div>?

Re: Embedding Simpleviewer

Is it possible you've somehow got the Standard version in your Pro folder?
SimpleViewer v1.9 Standard has a SHA1 hash of 02c5f56e95147dab637e349caf0b5b7f18158845
Check the hash of the viewer.swf file you are uploading against this.  (Use a program such as HashCalc or HashTab.)  If it matches, then it is definitely the Standard version.
Also, rather than uploading viewer.swf immediately, try deleting the existing viewer.swf from the server first in case, for whatever reason, your upload is not overwriting the existing file.

To change the size of the <div>, try <div id="div_name" style="width: 640px; height: 480px;">
Bear in mind that if you have nested <div>s you might need to define the dimensions of each one (in either absolute pixel values or percentages, eg. <div id="div_name" style="width: 100%; height: 100%;">

Re: Embedding Simpleviewer

Hi!
I've created a multiple gallery on my website, and It works very well.
This gallery works with files: multiple_galleries.swf, gallery1.xml, gallery2.hml and viewer.swf
These files are recalled by another file: cont.swf

Now, I want add another different gallery in my cont.swf, but calling a viewer.swf in another folder or to rename viewer.swf
Is it possible???

thanks forward

Re: Embedding Simpleviewer

Hoping you guys can help me out...

http://www.karosikdesign.com/index6.html

the top nav is just a flash SWF, but a simpleviewer gallery is supposed to be below it. The contents are all in the site root folder. Can you take a peek at my source code and see what's wrong?

Re: Embedding Simpleviewer

@MCstevepants

Set the wmode param to transparent for the simpleviewer.swf

params.wmode = "transparent";

Re: Embedding Simpleviewer

Where do I put that line of code?

Re: Embedding Simpleviewer

it goes intp your SimpleViewer embed code.

<script type="text/javascript">
var flashvars = {};
flashvars.galleryURL = "gallery.xml";
var params = {};
params.bgcolor = "000000";
params.allowfullscreen = true;
params.allowscriptaccess = "always";
params.wmode = "transparent";
swfobject.embedSWF("simpleviewer.swf", "flashContent", "100%", "100%", "9.0.124", false, flashvars, params);
</script>

This had no effect  :(

Re: Embedding Simpleviewer

Did yo try clearing your browser's cache after making the change? I'm not seeing the change at your site http://www.karosikdesign.com/index6.html

Also I noticed you are using the older version of SWFObjects you should replace line 5, <script type="text/javascript" src="swfobject.js"></script> with the following.

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/swfobject/2.2/swfobject.js"></script>

And delete lines 18 and 19, <script type="text/javascript" src="swfobject.js"></script>
<script src="/html/Scripts/swfobject_modified.js" type="text/javascript"></script>.

Finally your flash content Div ID needs to have a capital 'C', flashContent, to match the embed code.

So your HTML should look like this:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
<!-- saved from url=(0014)about:internet -->

<script type="text/javascript">
var flashvars = {};
flashvars.galleryURL = "gallery.xml";
var params = {};
params.bgcolor = "000000";
params.wmode = "transparent";
params.allowfullscreen = true;
params.allowscriptaccess = "always";
swfobject.embedSWF("simpleviewer.swf", "flashContent", "100%", "100%", "9.0.124", false, flashvars, params);
</script>

Re: Embedding Simpleviewer

Welp...sorry to keep bugging you, thanks for all the help so far, but you can check out my link again, I did what you said but the simpleviewer still doesn't load.

Re: Embedding Simpleviewer

Yeah, you still have some errors in index6.html such as missing end tags for <param> and an extra </div> tag. Try the entire page code I listed in the post above.

Re: Embedding Simpleviewer

I copy and pasted your complete code and updated the site with it. The only difference now is for a brief second before the site shows up, theres a blank page with a 'doctype' message on it.

Re: Embedding Simpleviewer

It looks like the viewer is embedded properly now, the current issue is that the links to the images in your gallery.xml are wrong. Change imagePath="" and thumbPath="" ing your gallery.xml  to imagePath="images/" thumbPath="thumbs/"

Re: Embedding Simpleviewer

After I make modifications to the gallery.xml, do I have to re-build the gallery using buildgallery.php ?

Re: Embedding Simpleviewer

No all you should have to do is edit the gallery.xml in notepad, save, upload the new version and then clear your browser's cache.
