isn't it possible to choose page number on left and caption text starts below page number so page number is on its own line.

suggestion :
In fact if caption filed was split into title and content fields and if in title line we could mix text and data items (exifs,...) like :

<page nr> of <Number of pages> ; From album <album name> ; <path>/<filename>

(but we can also imagine exposure, camera type,...) it would be wonderful
