ck your paths
your xml shows - imagePath="./" thumbPath="pic/">
is that where they are?
and ck your permissions on your directories
checked this in many configs:
http://dev.federowicz.pl
http://dev.federowicz.pl/1
http://dev.federowicz.pl/2
http://dev.federowicz.pl/3
can u give mi some hints?
1. gallery.xml syntax
- what is the exact syntax for variables related to the path /background, thumbs and pictures/
assuming / is the roor dir of the web content filesystem:
/ is directory with simpleviewer /incl. gallery.xml, swf and js files/
/pic is directory for all /background, thumbs and pictures/
which option should is use in gallery.xml to point these paths?
a/ ./pic
b/ ./pic/
c/ pic
d/ pic/
e/ /pic
f/ /pic/
g/ ???
2. access rights
how exactly should them look like?
assumption: apache 2.0 server
i mean:
- directory and files: owner and group belongings
- access rights to files?
i assumed: owner and group is apache, access pattern is 644
and it doesn't work :-( at least remotely /which is the key/
easiest way is maintain the SV set up
xml
swfobject
viewer.swf
/thumbs
/images
your way
xml
swfobject
viewer.swf
pics/thumbs
pics/images
pics/background
directory for thumbs and z directory for images, both named the same. Keep your BG images in a differant directory
xml would be imagePath="pics/images" thumbPath="pics/thumbs">
if that doesn't work change permmissions to 777 for pics directory
post back if you need more help
I am going through the same thing.

The JPEGS load fine on the browser by themselves, but not through the SWF viewer.
What do I need to change for this to work?
your xml is correct and your images are there, as you said. Did you make any changes to the viewer.swf or to any .as files?
If not,
Try uploading your viewer.swf again.
post back
I didn't make any changes to the SWF, or the .fla.
I just reuploaded the .js file and the viewer. Looks like the same result.
You mean .js files, yes?
No, I meant the .as files, the actionscript files .
Do you have a fresh viewer.swf? Download SV again if not and upload that viewer.swf. I'm stumped, as everything else looks correct. It should be working. Your swfobject.js is fine since SV loads.
Thought of another possible problem. Some servers don't allow caps. Try re naming your images/thumbs to imgp1220.jpg for example
or set your server to allow caps, if possible
on edit - make sure your jpg's are saved as " non progressive"
I didn't download any .as files. Should I have?
The version of SV that i have is the Pro version, without any .as files...
With non-progressive jpegs: same thing:
http://www.patriciasilva.com/test3/
the as files are in your 'source" folder. But, that isn't the problem, as you didn't alter them ( or find them :)
Let's try this -
from FAQ - Another possible problem is if your webserver has 'Hotlink Protection' enabled. Hotlink Protection breaks SimpleViewer. Check with your webserver administrator. If you have a control panel, it is in there.
YOU MADE MY WEEK.
It's working now. I do have access to the Cpanel, so instead of disabling the hotlink protection feature, I merely allowed direct access to images. And so far it's working! If that had not worked, I would have disabled the hotlink protection to see if that worked too.
THANK YOU RICHARD!!
See, it just took a good nights sleep ( or were you up all night?)
For others reading this - Was it a permissions problem?
allowed direct access to images
Glad it works!
