Topic: Caption editing capability

I just bought SimpleViewer Pro v2.2 to go beyond the capability of the SimpleViewer in Adobe Bridge CS5.  I have multi-line caption box which displays 4 things:

  • Title

  • Medium

  • Dimensions

  • Availability Status

I would love to make the following happen:

  1. Move the caption box to the bottom right of the main image using the right bottom corner as reference point

  2. Format the lines differently so that the Title shows up more prominently than the rest of the text in the Caption. From the following promo (http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/pr … es/colors/), it would seem that this is possible.

  3. Link caption to metadata labels so that I can add the data as an element rather than one glob of text.

Any help would be appreciated!

Move the caption box to the bottom right of the main image using the right bottom corner as reference point

This can be achieved by using a Fixed Layout, which allows you to give absolute fixed positions to stage elements (such as the caption area).

Format the lines differently so that the Title shows up more prominently than the rest of the text in the Caption. From the following promo (http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/pr … es/colors/), it would seem that this is possible.

This can be achieved by adding HTML formatting to your captions.

Link caption to metadata labels so that I can add the data as an element rather than one glob of text.

You could perhaps use PHP to dynamically create captions from metadata. Rename the 'gallery.xml' file to 'gallery.php', use galleryURL to point towards the 'gallery.php' file and use PHP within the file itself to create your captions.

Turn off displaying the little arrows on the main image for next and previous, and use only the button bar for naigation.

Set the following in your gallery's XML file:

showImageNav="NEVER"
showNavButtons="TRUE"

Unfortunately this does not work as the images are not all the same size and some are horizontal formats and others landscape format.  I need something that adjusts dynamically to the main image being displayed.

Without using a Fixed Layout, captions can be positioned using the captionPosition option: http://simpleviewer.net/simpleviewer/pr … ml#caption
Along with the captionTextAlignment option, you may be able to position the captions close to how you would like.

Unfortunately not. That is why I suggested a Fixed Layout initially. This is the only way to position the captions exactly as you want.

I appreciate that, but that does not fit my needs of bottom right caption to images that are not all the same size...

May I suggest corner references, as values for the captionPosition option for your next release.

Steven - I would like to add a red dot to a line that would indicate that the art has been sold.  I tried using <color="#ff0000" tag around a bullet symbol in the svBuilder image description, but that did not work.  Ideas?  I would like the last line to appear, as shown in the top left on the following page: http://deborahkapoor.com/portfolio_2010.html.  Alternatively could you tell me how lo link in an image file into the svBuilder caption line.

In order to have a red ASCII bullet point followed by black text 'sold', copy and paste the following into a caption field in svBuilder-Pro:

<font color="#ff0000">•</font><font color="#000000">sold</font>

If you would like to use an image (your 'dot.gif') within a caption, enter something like the following (changing the sample URL to the URL of your image) into a caption field in svBuilder-Pro:

<img src="http://www.example.com/dot.gif" height="8" width="8" /><font color="#000000">sold</font>
