Topic: Sort Order

Hello,

We're using SimpleViewer Pro V2 on our website at http://brockirwin.com/gallery/new-works/
We've restored a backup of our site, and the images in the gallery are appearing in reverse order and we're not sure why.
We'd like them to display in reverse chronological order - newest first.

How do we control this?

Thanks,
Chris

Re: Sort Order

WP-SimpleViewer displays Media Library images in ascending menu order by default (which is the same order as displayed when editing a post, clicking the 'Add Media' button and going to 'Insert Media -> Media Library -> Uploaded to this post').

If you want to reverse this order for a specific gallery, then make sure you are using the latest version of WP-SimpleViewer (v2.3.2.5) which can be downloaded from the plugin's support page and then follow this procedure.

(1) Go to 'SimpleViewer -> Manage Galleries' from the WordPress Dashboard.
(2) Click the 'Edit Gallery' link for the gallery in question.
(3) Select 'Descending' from the 'Image Order' combobox options.
(4) Click the 'Save' button.

Re: Sort Order

Thanks, Steven. How do we upgrade our Pro version to the latest Pro version?
My client used the upgrade tool in Wordpress, but that seems to have upgraded our Pro version to the latest free version causing the SimpleViewer branding to appear (which is why we had to restore the site.)

Re: Sort Order

Also, in the 'uploaded to this page' part of the media library,  the images are displayed with the most recent ones first.
On the website though the old ones are appearing first.
It sounds like this shouldn't be happening though?

Next time you upgrade WP-SimpleViewer via the Plugins page, that won't happen.
A routine was included in WP-SimpleViewer v2.3.2.2 to preserve a Pro 'svcore' folder if one is being used. (Unfortunately, you were upgrading from a version which did not have this functionality built into it.)

How do we upgrade our Pro version to the latest Pro version?

Download the latest version of SimpleViewer-Pro using the link from your purchase email. Full instructions can be found here.
Then, follow the 'Upgrading to SimpleViewer-Pro' instructions here.

I've seen some strange things with WordPress image sorting. (After first uploading images, they display in a certain order in the 'Uploaded to this post' section but going back to that section at a later date displays them in reverse order.)
In the 'Uploaded to this post' section, try just dragging and dropping a single thumbnail into a new position and then drag it back to its original position. This should be enough for WordPress to display the images in the new 'custom' order displayed.
