Topic: Modifying mobile layout

Hello,

Is there any way to modify the mobile layout or was this designed in a way to prevent that?

I have a Client who would like the mobile layout to match the flash layout.
It appears the mobile layout is produced via JS which has all been compressed, and there's no html template files to play with.

Thanks in advance for any insight you can offer,
Chris

Re: Modifying mobile layout

SimpleViewer is predominantly a Flash image viewer and the Mobile Player was designed as a fallback mechanism (so that non-Flash-enabled browsers and devices can still display the images) rather than a fully-featured image viewer within itself. As such, the Mobile Player supports far fewer configuration options that the Flash Player.
Configuration options supported by the Mobile Player can be found here.
Please also see this FAQ:
The mobile player layout does not match the Flash player layout. Why not?

Due to the increase in the number of mobile devices over recent years, we developed a new HTML 5 image viewer named Juicebox. Juicebox does not use or rely on Adobe Flash at all and has very similar configuration options to the Flash Player within SimpleViewer-Pro.
A list of all Juicebox-Pro configuration options can be found here.
We also have several demo Juicebox galleries here.

For more information on the differences between SimpleViewer and Juicebox (and for details of a 30% discount off the price of Juicebox-Pro for existing SimpleViewer-Pro users), please see this SimpleViewer blog entry.

Re: Modifying mobile layout

Hi Steven,

Thanks for getting back to me.

Does Juicebox have a WP plugin?

Also, I took a look at the configuration options for Juicebox.
My Client is a photographer and very particular about the layout of the thumbnails / main image.
We're proficient in HTML/CSS/JS. Would we be able to tweak the layout / template of Juicebox or would we be limited to the changes possible via those configuration options?

Thanks,
Chris

Does Juicebox have a WP plugin?

Yes. WP-Juicebox can be downloaded from its support page here.
It is very similar to WP-SimpleViewer (the SimpleViewer plugin for WordPress) so if you have used WP-SimpleViewer before, it should not take you long to get up and running with WP-Juicebox.

We're proficient in HTML/CSS/JS. Would we be able to tweak the layout / template of Juicebox or would we be limited to the changes possible via those configuration options?

You would be limited to the available configuration options.
It would be very difficult to change the position or layout of the thumbnails manually (using HTML, CSS and JavaScript).
There might be complications that you would have to tackle such as the thumbnail display being responsive (the number of thumbnails displayed is partly dependent on the size of the browser window) and functionality such as auto-hide may complicate things further.
Juicebox would not know of any manual modifications and would expect thumbnails to be in a certian position and configuration. Because of this, manual modifications might cause unforeseen problems.
Also, the 'juicebox.js' file is packed and obfuscated so it would not be easy to decipher how Juicebox currently works.
Having said that, Juicebox-Pro is fairly flexible with regard to thumbnails. There are many available Thumbnail Options and several different thumbnail layouts can be found in the demo galleries. Check out the Hong Kong demo for big thumbnails, the Simple demo for a SimpleViewer-style layout and the Top-Left Alignment demo for a large number of thumbnails.
