Topic: Gallery(s) not working right

"FLICKER USER NOT FOUND"

Did SimpleViewer change something?? This happened a few years back when they changed something and I had to re-work each and every one of my clients galleries. I am hoping that is not the case now...

Anyways I have multiple clients that use SimpleViewer Gallery and they are all down on PC's saying Flicker User Not found, but when you look on your phone you will see all of the images thumbnails so its technically the websites are connecting to Flickr, some reason its not showing on PC's for me or any of my clients. I checked on Chrome, IE and Firefox and they are all the same. Flash is installed and working properly.

To show name a few.

I am running SvBuilder-Pro v.2.3.2 and it seems like the galleries have been down for 3-4 days now.

      <!--START SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED.-->
<script type="text/javascript" src="svcore/js/simpleviewer.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
simpleviewer.ready(function () {
simpleviewer.load("sv-container", "100%", "100%", "transparent", true);
});
</script>
<div id="sv-container"></div>
<!-- END SIMPLEVIEWER EMBED -->

Thank you for your time and help on this. I truly love SVB, I just hate when it goes down like this.

Re: Gallery(s) not working right

I am not aware of any changes to the Flickr API but there may have been a change (perhaps relating to their cross domain policy).

If I disable Flash Player in my browser, your Flickr images all display as expected (in SimpleViewer's Mobile Player).
The problem happens only under Flash Player.

(I have checked using Adobe Flash Player v22 and Adobe Flash Player v23 so I do not think the problem is related to Adobe Flash Player v23, even though the start of your problem seems to have coincided with the release of Adobe Flash Player v23.)

Unfortunately, I do not know the exact cause of the problem but I have notified the developers who will investigate further.

Re: Gallery(s) not working right

Thank you for looking into it. I really don't want to move all of my clients onto something totally different. So I will keep my fingers crossed.

Re: Gallery(s) not working right

It's not an ideal solution but, in the short term, if you'd rather have your images displayed by SimpleViewer's Mobile Player (rather than have a Flickr error message displayed by the Flash Player), then you can set the useFlash Embed Code Parameter in your galleries to 'false'. This will force SimpleViewer to always use the Mobile Player (regardless of whether or not Adobe Flash Player is installed and enabled in the user's browser). It looks like the Mobile Player is still currently able to display Flickr images.
For example, just change:

simpleviewer.load("sv-container", "800", "600", "transparent", true);

... to:

simpleviewer.load("sv-container", "800", "600", "transparent", false);

For reference, configuration options supported by the Mobile Player can be found here.

Please also see this FAQ regarding the Mobile Player.
The mobile player layout does not match the Flash player layout. Why not?

Re: Gallery(s) not working right

Man that is so lame, it is definitely not the most ideal solution, sure it beats the fact that it either shows like that or not at all.  :rolleyes: neither are desirable ahhh. I tried it and it did work but a little to clunky in the long run...

Re: Gallery(s) not working right

From what I can gather from the Flickr forum threads below, the problem seems to be that Flickr have changed the 'crossdomain.xml' files on their servers, removing the <allow-access-from domain="*.*"/> entry.
This will effectively prevent all Flash applications (not just SimpleViewer) from receiving data via the Flickr API (which SimpleViewer uses to dynamically fetch the image URLs from Flickr's servers).

Unfortunately, until Flickr reinstates the <allow-access-from domain="*.*"/> entry in their 'crossdomain.xml' files, there is nothing that any Flash application can do to successfully use the Flickr API.

The best course of action in the meantime seems to be to force SimpleViewer to use the Mobile Player instead of the Flash Player (as noted above).

Re: Gallery(s) not working right

We have posted in the Flickr forum here: https://www.flickr.com/help/forum/en-us … 994865581/

If you are affected by this issue and have a Flash/Flickr image gallery that has recently stopped working, please make a note in a reply to our Flickr post. Thank you.

Re: Gallery(s) not working right

Hi, my SimpleViewer-Pro gallery is also not functioning now with the same message of "Flickr PhotoSet Not Found." The mobile version is not so great so I don't want to have the mobile version display on desktop. It sounds like there is no fix for this currently so in the meantime I've done a redirect of the SimpleViewer gallery directly to the Flickr album.

Please keep me posted, if possible, if SimpleViewer-Pro starts functioning again with Flickr.

Also since I'm doing a redirect on the url that was previously displaying the dysfunctional SimpleViewer gallery, do you know if there is a way to test if or when the gallery is functioning again without having to delete the redirect prematurely in order to test the gallery page?

Thanks for your help. I did post on the Flickr forum as well per your invite.

Re: Gallery(s) not working right

The mobile version is not so great so I don't want to have the mobile version display on desktop.

If you are looking for a more fully-featured HTML 5 image gallery, then you might like to take a look at Juicebox. Juicebox does not use Flash at all and can still load and display Flickr images (unlike Flash applications at present). Juicebox-Pro supports many more configuration options than the Mobile Player within SimpleViewer.
Demo Juicebox galleries can be found here.

Please see this SimpleViewer news article for more information on the differences between SimpleViewer and Juicebox and for details of a discount off Juicebox-Pro for existing SimpleViewer-Pro users.
For anyone switching from SimpleViewer to Juicebox, it is possible to convert a SimpleViewer gallery to Juicebox by following the Converting a SimpleViewer Gallery instructions in the Juicebox support pages.

Please keep me posted, if possible, if SimpleViewer-Pro starts functioning again with Flickr.

I will certainly post back in this thread if and when there are any further developments regarding this issue.

... do you know if there is a way to test if or when the gallery is functioning again without having to delete the redirect prematurely in order to test the gallery page?

Perhaps the best test is just to have a Flickr-sourced SimpleViewer gallery on your web site (perhaps on an unlisted page) and check it periodically.
Otherwise, you could check this file out: http://api.flickr.com/crossdomain.xml
If Flickr reinstate the entry <allow-access-from domain="*.*"/> in the file above, then Flash galleries should once again be able to display Flickr images.

I did post on the Flickr forum as well per your invite.

Thank you.
