Topic: Cannot load from Flickr - just broke by itself

Hi SimpleViewer gurus!  I've been a very happy SimplerViewer Pro customer for many years... but all of a sudden, it appears that my Flickr-based SimpleViewer Pro (latest version 2.3.2) gallery has broken on one of my hosted websites (hosted by HostPapa.com).

I'm now getting a Cannot load from Flickr error.   But nothing has changed in terms of my web-files, etc.   I'm thinking some configuration Server-side has changed to possibly block things from working.

Any ideas on what web-server configurations I should check would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Cannot load from Flickr - just broke by itself

After some experimentation, I've figured out that if I turn off Flash in the configuration, then the first image will display.

However, it appears that the Autoplay feature with the non-Flash version doesn't seem to work properly on the Firefox browser.

Is this a known issue?  My web page is at : http://hitmenboosters.com

My gallery.xml file is as follows:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

Re: Cannot load from Flickr - just broke by itself

Flickr made a change (in September 2016) which has resulted in all Flash-based applications (not just SimpleViewer) being unable to display Flickr images.
This seems to have been a conscious decision by Flickr rather than a bug but, as far as I am aware, Flickr made no public announcement when they made the change and, unfortunately, there is nothing that we can do about it.

Here are several forum threads relating to this issue where you can find further information.

As you have discovered, SimpleViewer's Mobile (HTML) player is not affected and can still display Flickr images.
If you like, you could force your galleries to always be displayed by the Mobile Player (so that your Flickr images can be displayed by SimpleViewer-Pro in all browsers) by setting the useFlash Embed Code Parameter (the last parameter in the line below) to 'false'.

simpleviewer.load('sv-container', '100%', '100%', '222222', false);

However, SimpleViewer is predominantly a Flash image viewer and the Mobile Player was designed as a fallback mechanism (so that non-Flash-enabled browsers and devices can still display the images) rather than a fully-featured image viewer within itself. As such, the Mobile Player supports far fewer configuration options that the Flash Player (and AutoPlay functionality is supported by the Flash Player only).
Configuration options supported by the Mobile Player can be found here.
Please also see this FAQ:
The mobile player layout does not match the Flash player layout. Why not?

Due to the increase in the number of mobile devices over recent years, we developed a new HTML 5 image viewer named Juicebox. Juicebox does not use or rely on Adobe Flash at all and has very similar configuration options to the Flash Player within SimpleViewer-Pro.
A list of all Juicebox-Pro configuration options can be found here.
We also have several demo Juicebox galleries here.

As Juicebox is an HTML 5 image viewer, it can display Flickr images without issue (and with AutoPlay functionality if you like).

In case you are interested in Juicebox-Pro, you can find more information on the differences between SimpleViewer and Juicebox (and details of a 30% discount off the price of Juicebox-Pro for existing SimpleViewer-Pro users) in this SimpleViewer blog entry.

Also, SimpleViewer galleries can easily be converted to Juicebox galleries using JuiceboxBuilder. Please see here for details.

I realise that there's a lot of information above (and in the links I've posted) but I hope you find it helpful.
