Topic: a field with many white XXXX instead of my Photo

Hi! :D

I am a fresh user of Simpleviewer and after 2 days I am still not able to see my Gallery on my Blog.
I have
Downloaded SV 1.8v and followed Manual Instructions

Saved “non progressive” Images in the Images folder

Created Thumbnails and copied to Thumb folder, with same name and .jpg extension, not JPG.

Edited Gallery.xml file with Notepad and added titles and captions.

6th point (this is the most unclear for me as I  am dumb) I am uncertain what to do: I copied the content  of the Gallery.xml file in the “create a new post” HTML module  of my Blog.

As result I get:

a description of my images appears in the left column of my Blog, no picture!

More.. in the Simpleviewer folder :
if I click the “SWFobject” 7kb  I get Microsoft Jscript Runtime error

If I click the “viewer icon” 17kb I get a message saying I do not have the program to open it.

If I click the IE icon Index a window opens in my IE browser showing a field  with white  X, but yes, with titles.

I have downloaded the  last version of Adobe  Shock Wave Flash  9.0 and set the options to allow Simpleviewer free to run!

What is my mistake?

Oh sorry I forgot:
I have read more than 5 times the FAQ and the Forum. I know about everything  of Adobe.
Real Time Cookie and Cache Cleaner always in action.

I don’t like to give up after 2 days spent doing and redoing things.

Somebody can help me please? :shock:

Have you tried running the simpleviewer gallery from your c: drive first to make sure it works?

Sorry I am not sure what you mean. The Simpleviewer Gallery.xml in the Simpleviewer Folder I have downloaded ?
If I click this one  I only get an expanded code. I cannot see pictures anywhere.

You can run your gallery from your c: drive by clicking on the index.html file. This will run your default browser and is called running 'locally'.
The files and folders should be like the following whether on your c: dirve or on your web server. Running it from your c: drive first lets you check that all your simpleviewer files are working. Any other problems will most likely be web server related.

your_gallery_folder
.........images
.........thumbs
.........gallery.xml
.........index.html
.........swfobject.js
.........viewer.swf

All images including thumbs should be .jpg (lower case extension) with matching file names.

:) Thanks for your detailed and clear replay.
It was that  what I did. However I cannot get it done, no images appear locally. I am almost sure I was unable to follow the basic instructions. Maybe I am repeating the same mistake!
I will delete SV and download it again. But please I need to know what is the exact next operation after having saved the images in the Image folder and the Thumbnails in the Thumbs folder.

Do you know if Blogger is incompatible with Simpleviewer?

The problem is with your reference to blogspot. The image path you have entered is not (as far as I can tell) the real location of your images. So unless you have specifically created the images and thumbs folders on the Blogspot file server I don't think it will work:

The image path is more like this:
http://bp1.blogger.com/_moufr2SPzPI/RrL … +2+235.jpg

You will need to find out how to reference the exact location of your image files within the blogspot file server.

I know it can be done with Flickr using FlickrViewer like this. The images in this gallery are not on my domain server but the SimpleViewer files are. The images are loaded from my Flickr site.

Maybe there is a similar tool for Blogspot?

Another issue will be that the images on your blogspot all seem to have different paths so I am not sure how or if SimpleViewer can be configured to deal with that.

I am greatful for your help though I haven't understood what's wrong with my images path. It took me too long without any result so I am going to
try with Flickr as you suggest. I cannot use Simpleviewer like that right?

You can use SimpleViewer to display images stored in Flickr. You have to use and configure FlickrViewer.php
You can find a link to FlickrViewer on the main Airtight Interactive page. Here is an example.
