Topic: Not working on some firefox and some safari (Tells people to

Hi, the site is www.bahar-photo.com. Simpleviewer has always worked fine for me using IE. However, I hear from some people using Firefox or Safari that Simpleviewer always returns a "Get Flash Player" icon. Even if you download Flash, install, reboot, then same thing happens. In fact, if you flash works on other sites, but then going to bahar-photo.com, it again says 'Get Flash Player". I have the latest version of simpleviewer. Anyone have an idea? Thanks!!

well.. of course that is why the icon exists.. in case people don't have flash or a new enough version. But I have (and I suspect all the people who have come to my site who had this problem) have the latest version of flash. Anyways, in my original post, I said I actually downloaded flash by following the link and it didn't work. Additionally, I have the latest version of simple viewer (and I had read the FAQ before of course).

Anyone seen this problem before? Thanks

well, I disabled Javascript on my Firefox and then, your gallery works correctly : the problem seems to come from Js detection.
you are still using SimpleViewer 1.7, you should try with 1.7.1

Its very strange: I uploaded the latest version of simple viewer from this website to following address:

http://www.bahar-photo.com/test/simpleviewer/

If I enable Javascript this above link works correctly and the original galleries at http://www.bahar-photo.com do not work.

If I disable Javascript, this above link does not work (Download flash) but the originals work.

I don't understand what the issue is here. Thanks for your help so far

you have on your http://www.bahar-photo.com webiste an old version of SW 1.7
this version had been corrected few monthes ago because Flash detection (via javascript) didn't work anymore with Firefox.
so this is the reason why it returns "SimpleViewer requires the Flash Player."


the 2 different versions of SV (1.7 and 1.7.1) don't work the same way :

:arrow: the new SV version (1.7.1) calls (and also detect) the Flash file with javascript. I mean the call of the swf file in the page is written with javascript.
If you disable javascript, you won't detect and won't see the gallery at all.

:arrow: with the old SV version, javascript use only to detect flash software.
if you disable javascript, only the detection of Flash won't work, but you will be able to see the gallery.


SV 1.7.1 works correctly with Firefox, IE SP1, IE SP2
this is the solution of your problem ;)

can you put a link to the new version? I downloaded the link from the simpleviewer web site, it says version 1.7.1 (this is the link i used http://www.airtightinteractive.com/simp … iewer.zip) and uploaded it to: http://www.bahar-photo.com/test/simpleviewer/ but in the corner it still says 1.7. Thanks

the viewer.swf always says 1.7, even for 1.7.1 ;)

in order to update your SV to 1.7.1, keep these files : your pictures folders (images/ and thumbs/), imageData.xml, and viewer.swf
and delete the other files (flash_detect.js and index.html)

then, put the new files in your folder : flashobject.js and index.html
in the zip file see the readme.txt to check this is the 1.7.1 version

I am having this same problem, but am using SimpleViewerAdmin. The same files are not used. Advice on how to upgrade SVA?

SimpleViewerAdmin does not support the latest version of SimpleViewer. SVA is not supported here - Please try your question at the SVA forum. Alternatively, use a different method to generate your galleries.
